Frequently Asked Questions
What Should I Wear?
If you choose the standard belly cast, you'll need to wear old shorts or pants you wouldn't mind painting in.
For best results, you should be nude from the waist up. If you prefer, a cheap or old bra can be worn
but it will be covered in Vaseline so it won't adhere to the cast. Also, you may see the lines from a bra in your cast.
Will I Be Sitting or Standing?
That depends on the type of cast you want. For most casts, we seat you in a semi-reclined position in a chair.
If you want upper thighs included, or hands/arms under the belly, you must stand. If you are standing for a cast,
we require another person to be home with you (or to come to the studio with you) as pregnant women can faint
after standing in one position for too long. We may require you sign a liability waiver to stand for your cast.
Casting Service at Your Home
Where In My Home Should We Do This?
A kitchen, unfinished basement, or area with a hard-surface floor and close access to a sink is ideal. We will bring
a drop cloth to cover our workspace, but occasionally there is some plaster splatter or dust after it has dried.
Splatter is easily removed from most floor surfaces with sweeping and mopping.
What Supplies Should I Have?
Try to get a comfortable chair that you can lean back in. It is recommended to cover the chair with towels or old sheets.
If you do not have a chair you feel comfortable being casted in, please inform us on the phone prior to your session so
we can bring one of our chairs.
You'll also need an old towel that we can use to wipe off excess plaster should it land elsewhere on your body. We
recommend you jump in the shower shortly after we are done with your cast.
If you have other children, please have a caregiver there to take care of them during your casting session.
